STONE HARBOR – The keys to the ocean are in a warm blue sky, and this year Mayor Judy Davies-Dunhour plans to fly the skies off the coast of Stone Harbor to retrieve the keys and officially open the ocean.

“There is no better way for me to experience my inaugural beach opening ceremony than with the pure excitement of viewing Stone Harbor’s stunning panoramic views by parasail, landing into the Atlantic Ocean, and being rowed to shore by New Jersey’s finest beach patrol to officially unlock the ocean with Captain Sandy Bosacco,” Davies-Dunhour said.

She plans to take to the sky at 9:30 a.m. Friday, May 26. For the ceremony, the mayor will be joined by members of Borough Council, the Stone Harbor Beach Patrol, elementary school children, community and local business owners, according to a statement.

“The Stone Harbor Beach Opening Ceremony is the first of many special events Stone Harbor will host this year,” Davies-Dunhour said.

“We are delighted that we will capture the essence of what it means to be part of this tremendous community from the air during our first annual event of the year.”

The downtown merchant opening follows the beach opening at 212 96th Street, where the Stone Harbor Chamber of Commerce will highlight their events and goals for the season, the mayor said.
