DEL HAVEN – A North Wildwood man has been charged with armed robbery after police said he held a woman and her 3-year-old daughter at gunpoint during an attempted robbery at a Del Haven residence.

Joseph Macklin, 31, was also charged with burglary, certain persons not to possess firearms, possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose, criminal restraint, and endangering the welfare of a child.

Police received a report at about 2 a.m., Wednesday, Nov. 30 of a man with a gun forcing his way into the Del Haven residence, and said that Macklin believed the woman had recently accumulated a large amount of money.

According to police, Macklin then forced his way into the residence, holding the victim and her daughter at gunpoint, demanding the money.

According to authorities, Macklin fled the scene with various items taken from the residence, and was later arrested in North Wildwood without incident by members of the Middle Township Street Crimes Unit.

Macklin was taken in county jail in lieu of $300,000 bond.
