American Legion pig roast
A pig roast fundraiser will be sponsored by Absecon American Legion Post 28 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday, July 11 at the Legion at New Jersey Avenue and Mill Road in Absecon. The price is $10. Hot dogs and hamburgers will also be available. Proceeds help the Legion support youth sports and provide scholarships. Tickets can be obtained from Art Madge by calling (609) 641-5721 or from any Legion member.
Woman's Club summer chess program
The 15th annual Galloway Women’s Club summer chess program for players in grades first through 12 will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Mondays Aug. 3, 10, 17 and 24 at the Galloway Township branch of the Atlantic County Library. The Absegami High School chess coach and team will assist with instruction for players ranked from beginner to advanced. There is a $10 registration fee for the entire program. Community Center for Senior Citizens
The Community Center for Senior Citizens is open 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Absecon United Methodist Church, 100 Pitney Road for all Atlantic County residents age 60 or older. Call (609) 645-0013 or email seniorcenterumc@comcast.net.
Story Time
Story time for children ages 3 to 5 is offered 10 a.m. every Wednesday at the Absecon Public Library, 305 New Jersey Ave. Registration is required and children must be accompanied by adults. Call (609) 646-2228.
Absecon Women’s Club
The Absecon Women’s Club meets 7:30 p.m. the third Thursday of each month at members’ homes. Club goals are to help support charitable and educational community projects. This year’s state project is autism. Call (609) 646-1749.
Rotary Club of Absecon-Galloway
The Rotary Club of Absecon-Galloway meets 7:30 a.m. every Thursday at the Galloway Diner, 245 W. White Horse Pike. See www.abseconrotary.org.
