Three running unopposed in Port Republic

PORT REPUBLIC – Three Republican incumbents are running unopposed in the Nov. 3 election for three local government seats.

No Democrats have filed for two seats on City Council and the job of mayor, which Gary Giberson has held for the past 24 years.

Craig Rummler is the Ward 1 candidate and Doris Bugdon is running in Ward 2. They are seeking three-year terms. Giberson is running at large for another four-year term as mayor.

Port Republic has a seven-member city council plus a mayor. Republicans have a 6-1 majority on the council.

Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Ward 1 votes at City Hall, 143 Main St.; Ward 2 votes at the Port Republic Volunteer Fire Company fire house, 116 Blakes La.
