GTPD K-9 beef and beer
A beef and beer fundraiser for the Galloway Township Police Department K-9 Unit will be held 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6 at Fred and Ethel's Lantern Light Inn in Historic Smithville. Admission is $20 per person. There will be door prizes. Proceeds benefit K-9 training, vests and equipment. For tickets or to donate call (609) 652-8657.
Dance Forum South acting classes
Absegami drama director Chip Garrison and Galloway Township Middle School vocal music/drama instructor Brian Conover will offer classes in acting and musical theater on Saturdays for two six-week sessions beginning Nov. 7. Classes include acting for commercials and the stage for children, vocal music, musical theater, beginning acting for adults and improvisational acting. Classes are $140 each. S. Egg Harbor Auxiliary Craft and Home Show
The Ladies Auxiliary of the South Egg Harbor Volunteer Company will hold its 23rd annual Christmas Craft and Home Show from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7 at the firehouse on Route 50 at Empire Street. The show is free to the public and will feature crafters and independent sales consultants. Indoor tables for exhibitors are $25 and outdoor space is $30 for 100 square feet. ’Gami Night at the Mic at Gourmet
’Gami Night at the Mic at Gourmet Italian Cuisine will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 10. The restaurant, at Pitney and Jimmie Leeds roads, will donate a percentage of any food orders placed during that time to the Emanon Players Boosters Scholarship Fund. Veterans Day in Absecon
Absecon VFW Post 9462 and American Legion Post 28 will host a Veterans Day presentation for students at the Absecon Public Schools in the Marsh School Cafeteria on Wednesday, Nov. 11. Refreshments will be served for veterans at 7:45 a.m. The program begins at 8:30 a.m. The school plans a special recognition for Charles Norris. Nov. 11 is a federal holiday, but the schools will be open. The Veterans Alliance will conduct services in Absecon Veterans Park on Route 9 at 11 a.m. Call (609) 646-2783.
Cedar Creek High School sessions
James Reina, principal of the Cedar Creek High School scheduled to open in September 2010 in Egg Harbor City, has scheduled two informational sessions about the new high school. One for Port Republic residents will be held 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11 in the Port Republic School multipurpose room. Another will be held for Galloway Township residents 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 in the Galloway Township Middle School cafetorium.
Stockton Black Awards dinner and dance
The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey’s Council of Black Faculty and Staff will hold its 28th annual Scholarship Awards Dinner and Dance 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Carriage House in Galloway Township. College President Emerita Vera King Farris will be the honorary chairwoman. Proceeds support scholarships. Fall Family Bingo at GTMS
The Galloway Township Middle School Family School Association has scheduled Fall Family Bingo at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13. Family Bingo includes a dauber, paper and a grand prize ticket for the $6 entry fee. Prizes are awarded for games. Food will be available for purchase. Cody Sanchez Fund benefit
A benefit for the Cody Sanchez Fund is scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 at Barista’s Coffee House. Sanchez was struck and killed by a motor vehicle as he rode his bicycle out of the woods. Admission is $10. There will be a Chinese auction featuring casino room and meal comps and restaurant gift certificates, and a 50-50. ‘Scenes of Galloway Township’ at library
The Galloway Cultural Arts Center’s current exhibit, “Scenes of Galloway Township,” is at the township branch of the Atlantic County Library through Saturday, Nov. 14. AtlantiCare Tree of Lights Remembrance
AtlantiCare Hospice will hold its sixth annual Tree of Lights Remembrance Celebration 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19 at AtlantiCare’s Mainland Campus on Jimmie Leeds Road in Galloway Township. People can honor living and deceased loved ones by naming bulbs on the Tree of Lights in their honor. Suggested donation is $15. The celebration includes holiday music, the tree lighting and a recital of the names of all those honored. Refreshments will be served. The event will also highlight Hospice Celebration of Life Walk, a brick-laden path designed to give the community a chance to purchase bricks to honor, remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones.
