Project Graduation raffle tickets
Project Graduation raffle tickets are now on sale for the Class of 2010. Each ticket is $100 and can be bought by individuals or in a group. Parents of seniors are encouraged to help. First-place prize is $5,000, second is $3,000, and third is $1,000 if all 200 tickets are sold. Call Mary Anne Spiker at (609) 788-8571 or Sandi Roberts at (609) 653-2009 to buy tickets.
Economic Development Commission meeting
The Egg Harbor Township Economic Development Commission will meet noon Thursday, Nov. 12 in the mayor’s conference room, first floor, Egg Harbor Township Municipal Building, 3515 Bargaintown Road. Formal action may be taken.
Heritage Day planning meeting
There will be a planning meeting for Heritage Day 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 at Zion Church Hall on Zion Road at Old Zion Road. Heritage Day, set for Saturday, June 26, 2010, at Veterans' Park, is being organized as a tribute to the military and celebration of Egg Harbor Township's 300th anniversary. Get Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs fishing trip
The Egg Harbor Township Recreation Department and Municipal Alliance have hooked up for the 17th season to sponsor trips in the “Get Hooked on Fishing Not on Drugs” program. The last trip for 2009 is Sunday, Nov. 15 aboard the STARFISH out of Sea Isle City. The program is open to all township residents 7 years and older. Special Education Resource Group
The Special Education Resource Group, which is meant to aid families who have a child or children in the Egg Harbor Township School District receiving special education services, will meet 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18 in the Alder Avenue Middle School board room. Spaghetti Dinner
The Scullville Volunteer Fire Company, 1708 Somers Point Road, is sponsoring a spaghetti dinner 4-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 to help the Bargaintown Volunteer Fire Company rebuild their firehouse on Mill Road. Beef and beverage
There will be a beef and beverage for Noah Kramer of Egg Harbor Township 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 at Mangia by the Green, Ocean Heights Avenue in Egg Harbor Township. Noah, the son of Richard Kramer of Mays Landing and Tim and Lori McCline of Egg Harbor Township, has had eight eye surgeries. Anti-driving DUI presentation
Egg Harbor Township High School will host “I’m That Guy,” a presentation on the dangers of driving while under the influence 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 23. Parents and students are invited. Matthew Maher, 25, of Cape May County, a celebrated local athlete who went on to become a professional soccer player was involved in a fatal motor vehicle crash on the Atlantic City Expressway in March 2009. After pleading guilty to death by auto and driving while intoxicated, Maher has volunteered to share his story in an effort to prevent others from making the same life-changing, bad decisions. He is scheduled to be sentenced in January 2010. For information call the South Jersey Traffic Safety Alliance at (856) 794-1941.
Township Committee meets
Due to Veterans’ Day and Thanksgiving, the Township Committee will not meet on the second and fourth Wednesday as usual. The next regular meeting of the Township Committee will be 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 24 in the Municipal Building, 3515 Bargaintown Road. Formal action may be taken.
Fair for All
The Egg Harbor Township Police Athletic League is having a Fair for All 20-year Anniversary Celebration from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 28 at the EHT PAL Ready to Ride PAL Center, 2590 Ridge Ave. This event includes motorcycle stunt shows by Michael Angerman Jr., lawnmower races, K-9 demo and the live band No Pressure. The all-day event includes food, go-carts, hay rides, bouncy rides, pony and horseback rides, Barnyard Friend's Petting Zoo and more. Admission is free. See www.ehtpal.com for details.
Live and Silent Auction
The Atlantic Christian School will present its annual Live and Silent Auction 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 at the school. The Atlantic Christian School is a pre-school through 12th grade private non-denominational school located at 391 Zion Road in Egg Harbor Township.
Oldest contest and 300th gala
The 300th Anniversary Gala Committee will honor longtime residents at a the 300th Anniversary Gala Friday, Jan. 29, 2010 at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, Mill Road and Ridge Avenue. The committee is looking for the oldest resident who has lived here their entire life, the longest-married couple, and representatives from the longest continually operating business to attend. Deadline for contest entries is Jan. 10, 2010. Those interested in submitting for one of the “oldest” categories or those interested in gala tickets can email galatickets@verizon.net. Peddler’s Village Christmas Festival trip
The Egg Harbor Township Recreation Department will sponsor a bus trip to the Peddler's Village Christmas Festival on Saturday, Dec. 5. The bus will leave the Egg Harbor Township Municipal Building on Bargaintown Road at 8 a.m. and leave Peddler's Village at 6 p.m. for the return trip. The cost is $30 per person. A Grand Event
The Community Partnership for Egg Harbor Township Schools, Inc. will host “A Grand Event” Dinner Dance and Silent Auction 6 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 27, 2010, at Greate Bay Country Club in Somers Point. Proceeds will be used to purchase a concert grand piano for the Egg Harbor Township High School’s performing arts center/auditorium. Tickets are $75.
