Cedar Creek High School sessions

James Reina, principal of the Cedar Creek High School scheduled to open in September 2010 in Egg Harbor City, has scheduled informational sessions about the new high school. One will be held for Galloway Township residents 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 in the Galloway Township Middle School cafetorium.

Stockton Black Awards dinner and dance

The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey’s Council of Black Faculty and Staff will hold its 28th annual Scholarship Awards Dinner and Dance 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 12 at the Carriage House in Galloway Township. College President Emerita Vera King Farris will be the honorary chairwoman. Fall Family Bingo at GTMS

The Galloway Township Middle School Family School Association has scheduled Fall Family Bingo at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 13. Family Bingo includes a dauber, paper and a grand prize ticket for the $6 entry fee. Prizes are awarded for games. Food will be available for purchase. Baseball beef and beer

The A.C. Hammerheads traveling baseball organization will host a beef and beer from 7 p.m. to midnight Saturday, Nov. 14 at Fred and Ethel’s Lantern Light Inn at Historic Smithville. Tickets are $20. Cody Sanchez Fund benefit

A benefit for the Cody Sanchez Fund is scheduled from 7 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 14 at Barista’s Coffee House. Sanchez was struck and killed by a motor vehicle as he rode his bicycle out of the woods. Admission is $10. There will be a Chinese auction featuring casino room and meal comps and restaurant gift certificates, and a 50-50. ‘Scenes of Galloway Township’ at library

The Galloway Cultural Arts Center’s current exhibit, “Scenes of Galloway Township,” is at the township branch of the Atlantic County Library through Saturday, Nov. 14. Operation Medicine Cabinet

The Port Republic General Store will be a collection site for Operation Medicine Cabinet New Jersey Saturday, Nov. 14, part of the first statewide medicine disposal day in the nation. Self-defense clinic for women, teens

Tilton Fitness in Galloway Township will host a self-defense clinic for women and teens 1 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 15. Free and open to non-members as well as members, it will be conducted by Tilton Fitness trainer and self defense expert Alan Wright. Women will learn how to better protect themselves going to and from parking lots, garages and darkened areas. The Galloway Township Police Department will also do a safety presentation. Scout conducting food drive

Absegami High School sophomore Will Flournoy is conducting a canned food drive from Monday, Nov. 16, to Wednesday, Nov. 25 at Absegami and Oakcrest high schools. A Boy Scout in Galloway Township Troop 76, Flournoy is making this his Eagle Scout project, concluding the food collecting Thanksgiving morning, Nov. 26 at the Oakcrest-Absegami football game. The game at Absegami starts at 10 a.m. The bins will be set up by the main office in each school. At the game, he will have a tent set up. The food will go to the Community FoodBank of New Jersey, Southern Branch. Most needed items include peanut butter, tuna fish, baby foods and formula, meals in cans, powdered milk, drink mixes, spaghetti sauce, and canned fruit. Outlaw’s in-law to speak

AtlantiCare Tree of Lights Remembrance

AtlantiCare Hospice will hold its sixth annual Tree of Lights Remembrance Celebration 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 19 at AtlantiCare’s Mainland Campus on Jimmie Leeds Road in Galloway Township. People can honor living and deceased loved ones by naming bulbs on the Tree of Lights in their honor. Suggested donation is $15. The celebration includes holiday music, the tree lighting and a recital of the names of all those honored. Refreshments will be served. The event will also highlight Hospice Celebration of Life Walk, a brick-laden path designed to give the community a chance to purchase bricks to honor, remember and celebrate the lives of loved ones. Emanon Players present ‘Fahrenheit 451’

Unitarian Eco Service and Fair

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the South Jersey Shore will hold an Eco Service and Fair 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 22. AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center’s Heart Institute Heart Heroes meet the second Tuesday of each month at AtlantiCare’s Mainland Campus.
