Students air it out for veterans

Students and staff at Smithville Elementary School took part in a unique Veterans Day project Monday, Nov. 9 as they posed for this shot. Mike Paci, a parent of two former Smithville students, volunteered to paint a giant-sized outline of the letters USA on the school playground. While standing inside their assigned letters, students and staff lifted pieces of colored paper above their heads while an aerial picture was taken from a helicopter. The picture of the entire school family proudly displaying the red, white and blue is included in cards students are writing to members of the armed forces and local veterans, thanking them for their service to our country.
