MARGATE – Bertram Korn Jr., former editor of the Jewish Exponent, will speak about Jews of the Civil War era at the Board of Jewish Education's One Book, One Jewish Community study group 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 30 at the Milton and Betty Katz Jewish Community Center.
The meeting follows up on the writings of Korn’s late father, Rabbi Bertram Korn Sr., who wrote “American Jewry and the Civil War” and was a longtime rabbi of Reform Congregation Keneseth Israel in Elkins Park, Pa.
The book follows the selection of “All Other Nights” by Dara Horn, last summer’s book selection. It takes a look at the Jewish community in America during the Civil War.
The book is out of print, but the board has a limited number of used books available for $10 each. New books are available for $35 through the Jewish Publication Society.
The program is funded in part by the BJE's Federation Foundation Donor Endowment Fund and the Katz Memorial Foundation. It will be held in the board room and there will be light refreshments. To register call (609) 822-1854.
