Malelani named merchant of the month

VENTNOR – The Ventnor Beautification Committee has named Malelani Café the November merchant of the month.

Malelani, at 5205 Atlantic Ave., is one of the newer eateries to open here. It is owned by George Drakopoulos, who runs Wraptures at the 5000 building and the Café at the Longport Seaview Condominium.

Malelani features 13 types of loose tea, including "bubble" tea, which is made with loose tea and tapioca pearls and sipped through a wide straw.

Favorite menu items are a bacon, lettuce, tomato and chicken salad called Dusk, Crispy French Toast, and coffee drinks.

The interior of the restaurant is painted in bright colors and features art by locals. In season, patrons can sit outside and sip espresso. Saturdays feature an open mike night run by Steven Winkle, author of “Elephant, Elephant, Come Alive.”
