Congregation Beth Israel Hosts Kabbalah Scholar

The Jewish mystical tradition of Kabbalah will be explored at Congregation Beth Israel on Nov. 20 and 22 as the synagogue welcomes Kabbalah scholar Rabbi Arthur Green for the Gusti Engelberg Visiting Scholar Program. Rabbi Green will speak at Shabbat services 5:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20 at Congregation Beth Israel. An adults-only shabbat dinner will follow and feature a talk by Rabbi Shapiro on “Rediscovering the Hasidic Masters—A Reading on our Parashah.” Dinner is $10 per person and reservations are required. On Sunday, Nov. 22, Green will be the featured speaker at a brunch 10:30 a.m. at Congregation Beth Israel. The title of his talk is “Rediscovering the Jewish Mystical Tradition: Why, When & How?” Brunch is $15 per person and reservations are required.

All events during the Gusti Engelberg Visiting Scholar Program are open to the public. Non-members should add $5 to the cost of each event. Breakfast in Bethlehem

Greentree Church of Egg Harbor Township will present the Christmas celebration “Breakfast in Bethlehem” for children and their families on Saturday, Dec. 5. There will be two performances and breakfast seatings at 8:30 and 11 a.m. at the Bethlehem Bistro for both children and parents. Children will then be taken on a journey to the first Christmas, where they will experience the nativity complete with live animals. Each child will be able to take part in games and crafts in the town of Bethlehem and will hear about the birth of Jesus from the angels, shepherds, wise men, Mary and Joseph. Tickets are required. UU Service/Fair inspires people to go “full green ahead”

The Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the South Jersey Shore will hold an Eco Service and Fair 10 a.m. Sunday, Nov. 22. This multigenerational service includes music, message and meditation followed by an informational fair with hands-on exhibits and demonstrations to help families and individuals commit to slowing global climate change. Wednesday evening prayer and silent worship is being sponsored by the Religious Society of Friends (Quakers) at the historic Seaville meeting house, 3088 S. Shore Road.
