Nov, 16-2009 5:12 pm

LINWOOD – Gold was victorious at the Belhaven Middle School’s 11th annual Blue and Gold Game Thursday evening, Nov. 12.

The gymnasium was packed as supporters for both teams came out to cheer on students and staff members.

The annual game gives eighth-graders the chance to team up with teachers for the chance to win a “Stanley Cup-like trophy.” The winners have their names placed on the award, which is kept at the school.

The gold team scored first with a rebound off a missed foul shot.

Teachers were John Napoli, Brian Coyle, Ned Eissler, Keith Grimley, Stephanie DiBartollo and Shaune Slattery, with Principal Frank Rudnesky.

On the blue team were students Meghan Adams, Casey Butrus, Abby Clouser, Emilee Dalessio, Natalie Geary, Abbie Hirsch, Haley Krachman, Danielle Malamut, Chloe Molineaux, Claire Pendergast, Kyle Batohie, John Ellerman, Ethan Fischer, Christian Gansert, Nick Gillespie, Devin Plante, Kenny Randall, Drew Riska, Paul Young, Darin Carelli, Mike Cellini, Harris Jacobs and Jon Nazha. The team included teachers Chris Meade, Jamie Schaffer, Pete Davis, Mark Scnepp, Gina Wilson and Superintendent Tom Baruffi.

The evening raised more than $2,000 toward the school’s Renaissance Academic Pep Rally in the spring.
