Medicare Day at senior center

The Atlantic County Division of Intergenerational Services will host “Medicare Day” from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 19 at the Egg Harbor Township Senior Center, 5045 English Creek Ave. County residents age 60 and older are invited to learn about upcoming changes to Medicare, PAAD enrollment, application assistance and one-on-one counseling. A lunch will be provided. There is no charge to attend, but a $1 donation is suggested to cover programming costs. Reservations are required by Tuesday, Nov. 17; call (609) 272-8179.



Property tax discussion at Beth El

Harry Brown will be a guest speaker during Beth El Synagogue’s 8 p.m. late service Friday, Nov. 20. The topic is “How to file a property tax petition to have your real estate taxes reduced.” All are welcome; tea and cake will be served after the program. The synagogue is at 500 N. Kennedy to speak at PR council

The Public Relations Council of Greater Atlantic City will meet at noon Tuesday, Nov. 24 at Carmine’s Restaurant in The Quarter at Tropicana in Atlantic City. Jim Kennedy, former executive director of the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority and a current faculty member at The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey, will speak on the topic “The Future of Atlantic City: A Private Public Partnership.” Seating is $30 for members, $35 nonmembers, for reservations made by noon Friday, Nov. 20. Hill to be honored by GACC

The Greater Atlantic City Chamber has chosen Gary Hill as the 39th John Fitzpatrick Mainlander of the Year. Health career info session at ACCC

Atlantic Cape Community College will hold a free health career information session at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 in C Building, Cafeteria B at the college’s Mays Landing campus. Veterans enrollment clinic

Congressman Frank LoBiondo invites all veterans who are not presently enrolled in the VA healthcare system to attend a free enrollment clinic 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7 at Somers Point VFW Post 2189, 500 Bethel Road in Somers Point. Veterans are asked to bring DD-214 and tax forms. Representatives from the VA will be present to answer questions and explain enrollment eligibility. The VA has re-opened enrollment to its medical benefits package for Category 8 veterans by increasing the income threshold by 10 percent. Gym classes for toy donations

Nonmembers can take any class free at Island Gym & Fitness from Monday, Dec. 7 through Friday, Dec. 11 in exchange for a new, unwrapped toy valued at $10 or more. Selected classes will be available with a toy donation. The donations will benefit Toys for Tots, DYFS and Gilda’s Club. Panel discussion at Beth El

Medical spa seeks clothing donations

Accent Aesthetics Medical Spa in Galloway Township is collecting business clothing through Jan. 1 to benefit the “Dress for Success” program at the Atlantic County Women’s Center. New or clothing donations may be dropped off weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to noon, and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Suite 100 in the Tilton Fitness Building, 323 S. A.C. center featured in PBS show

The Atlantic City Convention Center will be featured in upcoming episodes of PBS’s number-one hit “Antiques Roadshow” scheduled to air on the following Mondays: Jan. 25, Feb. 1 and Feb. 8. The shows were filmed in June 2009 as the kick-off to the show’s summer tour. Check local listings for exact channel numbers and show times.

Cape May Stage offers ticket deals

The Cape May Stage is offering discount tickets to its production of “Master Harold… and the Boys,” a coming-of-age story set in 1950s apartheid South Africa, which runs 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 18 through Saturday, Nov. 28 at The Robert Shackleton Playhouse in Cape May. Student admission is $8 (regularly $12.50) on Thursday, Nov. 19. Any unsold tickets remaining at the box office at 7:45 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 22 will be offered as pay-what-you-can on a first-come, first-served basis. Arts grants available

The New Jersey State Council on the Arts announces the availability of guidelines and applications for the fiscal year 2011 Organizational Grant Program. Two types of support are available: Arts Program Support, for New Jersey-based nonprofit organizations holding an arts event; and Building Arts Participation, for programs which identify and address barriers to arts participation. Notices of Intent to Apply must be submitted through the Arts Council electronic grant application system SAGE by Friday, Dec. 11. A conference call workshop on the application process will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 1, and a workshop will also be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 at the Noyes Museum in Galloway Township.
