Christmas tree sale
Members of Northfield Boy Scout Troop 72 will begin their 56th annual Christmas tree sale early this year. Trees will be available starting Saturday, Nov. 28 at the Burton Avenue Fire House, adjacent to the football field at Birch Grove Park.
Holiday Concert
The Star Spangled Singers four-part harmony choral group led by director Joanne Gabriel will present a medley of patriotic music and holiday favorites 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3 at the Northfield Library on Mill Road. Refreshments will be served. The concert is sponsored by the Friends of the Northfield Library, (609) 646-4476.
Tree lighting
The Northfield Volunteer Fire Company Auxiliary is hosting the annual tree lighting ceremony 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4 at City Hall, 1600 Shore Road. The Northfield Community School Chorus will perform, and Scouts will decorate the tree with homemade ornaments. Santa will arrive by firetruck, and children will be able to visit Santa inside the firehouse. Refreshments will be served.
Library holiday program
The Northfield library is having a special holiday story time 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 5 that will include the showing of the Walt Disney animated movie “Mickey’s Christmas Carol.” Milk and cookies will be served. For information call (609) 646-4476.
Manna fundraiser
Manna will celebrate 15 years of helping with its annual tasting extravaganza fundraiser 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 6 at Beth Israel Synagogue. Area restaurants, bakeries and florists will show off their collective talents to help fund Manna’s mission to feed and deliver more than 2,000 meals each month to the chronically ill in Atlantic and Cape May counties. Bus trip to New York
The Northfield Education Foundation is sponsoring a bus trip to New York City Saturday, Dec. 5. The bus will leave 6 a.m. from the Northfield Community School and depart for the return trip 6 p.m. Cost is $35. Call (609) 407-4000 or email nytrip@ncs-nj.org.
City Council meeting
A special meeting of the Northfield City Council is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 9 in Council Chambers, 1600 Shore Road in Northfield for the purpose of discussing the 2010 capital budget. Formal action may be taken.
Mothers League collectible for sale
The Northfield Mothers League is selling a limited edition, 3-inch by 8-inch replica of Northfield’s Old Mill Road School crafted in wood by the Cat’s Meow keepsake-making company. The collectible is $20 and can be purchased 10:30 a.m.-6 p.m. daily at The Clay Station, 3143 Fire Road. Proceeds support the group’s community projects.
