Yoga classes at Woodbine library
WOODBINE—The Woodbine branch of the Cape May County Library will be hosting yoga classes. The class will be held in the school gymnasium, which is adjacent to the library branch on Nov. 25; Dec. 2, 9 and 16; and Jan. 6, 13, 20 and 27.
Instructor Phyliss Schlegel is a certified yoga teacher who has been teaching in the local area for the past seven years. She also is currently teaching evening yoga classes for the Woodbine Recreation Department. For information, call 861-2800 or visit www.cmclibrary.org.
Eagles linebacker, Jordan, to help light Ocean City Christmas Tree
OCEAN CITY—Akeem Jordan, linebacker for the Philadelphia Eagles will help city officials light the Ocean City Christmas Tree in front of City Hall on Friday, Nov. 27. This will take place during the Old-Fashioned Family Christmas in Downtown Ocean City.
Jordan, number 56 for the Philadelphia Eagles, ranks second on the team in tackles and first in special team tackles. Jordan is a resident of Harrisonburg, Va. and has a passion for speaking to kids about choosing the right path in life.
An Old-Fashioned Family Christmas in Downtown Ocean City is designed to help boost sales locally. Features of the Nov. 27 celebration that runs from noon to 6 p.m. include a free Children’s Train Ride at City Hall Annex, 901 Asbury Ave., courtesy of Gillian’s Wonderland Pier, free photos with Santa in an Ocean City Lifeboat on City Hall Lawn and celebrity readings and face painting at Stainton’s Square, 810 Asbury Ave. Free horse and carriage rides are scheduled from noon to 3 p.m. starting at City Hall, 9th and Asbury Ave. At 4:30 p.m. there will be a gathering on City Hall steps for community caroling, the lighting of the Christmas Tree, and Santa’s arrival.

Portraiture painting at Upper library
PETERSBURG—Cheryl Crews will instruct the fine art of painting portraiture in oils at a series of four weekly classes will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 28. The classes will be held at the Upper Branch Library located at 2050 Route 631. Crews is a dedicated local artist, art teacher and art activist, and a familiar dynamic force with regional museums, art centers and institutions, known for her public murals. Currently, Crews is on the faculty of Atlantic City Community College, lead teacher of Lower Township’s Youth Art Program through the Center for Community Arts, founding president the Aquarian Project and writer/illustrator for “Sketches of Down Jersey” for the Down Jersey Magazine. Class size is limited; therefore registration and a valid library card are needed. A required materials list is available when registering. Santa visits the Ocean City Boardwalk
OCEAN CITY—The Ocean City Regional Chamber of Commerce has invited Santa Claus to Ocean City for photographs. Photos will be taken at the Music Pier by the beach, with Santa in an official Ocean City Lifeguard boat. Santa Claus will be in town on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 3 p.m. on the following dates: Nov. 28 and 29, and Dec. 5, 6, 12, 13, 19 and 20. Cost is $6 per photograph. Annual Tree Lighting ceremony in Sea Isle City
SEA ISLE CITY — A month full of holiday events in Sea Isle City will commence on Tuesday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m. with the annual Tree Lighting Ceremony. Community members are invited to come join in the fun of celebrating the holiday season as the 30-foot Sea Isle City Christmas Tree is lit in Veterans Park, JFK Boulevard and Landis Avenue.
VFW Post 1963 member and vocalist Russell Briggs, as well as local church choirs, will be leading ceremony attendees in singing Christmas Carols and Santa Claus will be making a very special visit that night as well. S.I.C.T.A will also be providing hot chocolate and cookies to all who attend.

Rev. Dave Bailey special guest at Head of the River Christmas service
The Head of the River annual Christmas service will be held on Sunday, Dec. 6, at 2 p.m. The guest speaker will be Rev. Dave Bailey, founder of Ranch Hope for Boys and Girls in Alloway. Memoirs workshop at library
PETERSBURG—The Cape May County Library will offer an eight-week writing workshop at the Upper Branch Library from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays through Dec. 2. The Upper Branch Library is located at 2050 Route 631 in Petersburg. Learn how to turn your memoirs into creative stories as basic writing skills are the only necessary tools needed to participate in this workshop. Memoirs should be in the author’s authentic voice. Participants decide the scope and how to organize their memories of relationships and events. The class focuses on technique, since most of the writing is done independently at home. The class is under the tutelage of Eva Feeley, a member of the Jersey Cape Writers, which recently published their third anthology, “Paths.” There is no charge for the workshop. Sea Isle City hosts various holiday events
SEA ISLE CITY—The Historical Museum Open House will be on Saturday, Dec. 5 at 4208 Landis Avenue. The open house will run from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
On Monday, Dec. 7, young residents of Sea Isle City will be getting calls from Santa during the Santa’s Calling Program sponsored by the Sea Isle City Recreation Department in cooperation with the Knights of Columbus, Madonna Maria Council No. 3560. Forms will be sent to the Sea Isle City Public School, Children of Promise, and local residents who attend Bishop McHugh. Calls will begin taking place around 6 p.m.
On Thursday, Dec. 10, the Sea Isle City Recreation Department, in cooperation with the Sea Isle City Garden Club, will hold their House Lighting Contest. The event will begin at 5:30 p.m. Only local Sea Isle City residents may register and can do so by calling the Recreation Department. Entrants can also download the registration form from the City’s website, www.seaislecitynj.us, or fill one out at City Hall, 4416 Landis Avenue.
The Brunch with Santa event, sponsored by the VFW Post 1963 in cooperation with the Sea Isle City Recreation Department, is for children ages 10 and under, and will take place on Sunday, Dec. 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the VFW Building, 301 JFK Boulevard. Pre-registration is required by Dec. 11 and children must be accompanied by an adult. GTAMA present Christmas in the Country
TUCKAHOE—The Greater Tuckahoe Area Merchants’ Association will host its 15th annual Christmas in the Country at the Station House, Railroad Avenue, Tuckahoe, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Dec.5. This annual crafts and antique fair will feature a parade which begins at 10 a.m. at Main Street in Corbin City. There will be food, music and fun for all, including a 50/50 raffle drawing at 3 p.m. with tickets available at the GTAMA booth for $1. Sweet Adelines International performs annual holiday show
MIDDLE TOWNSHIP—“Home for the Harmony” is being presented Dec. 5 by The Cape Shore Chorus Chapter of Sweet Adelines, their annual show. This year they are going to warm your hearts with the sweet sounds of Barbershop harmony and Christmas in their music. In addition to the women’s chorus and quartets, guest singers include Middle Township High School singers “The Middletones” and a men’s barbershop quartet “Hudson Chronicles.”

Young at heart seniors meeting
SEAVILLE—Young at hearts seniors will have a meeting at Seaville United Methodist Church with a potluck dinner and a program featuring Dr. Richard Stanislaw, CEO of the Tabernacle in Ocean City, and director of the Angelus Choir, accompanied by Rebecca Stanislaw on piano. Audience is requested to sing along. The program will focus on the background of old-time music. Bring something for the food bank and pay $15 then or sooner for the annual Christmas dinner at the Crab Trap on Dec. 10.
Christmas Spectacular trip to New York
MARMORA—A trip to the Rockettes’ Christmas Spectacular Show will take place on Thursday, Dec. 10. Birds for Boobs hosts breakfast with Santa
SEAVILLE—A local organization dedicated to raising money for breast cancer research is hosting a breakfast with Santa on Saturday, Dec. 12 from 8 to 11 a.m. at the Seaville Fire Hall, 36 Route 50 in Seaville. Tickets are $10 per person and include pancakes, sausage or bacon, juice, coffee or tea, and child’s picture with Santa. Please bring your own camera. Bus trip to New York City
PETERSBURG—The Upper Township Rescue Squad will sponsor a bus trip to New York City to see the Radio City Music Hall Christmas Spectacular on Dec. 16. The bus will leave the Upper Township Rescue Squad promptly at 7 a.m. and return around 8 p.m. The cost of the trip is $145 per person, which includes a seat on the bus, snacks and water on the bus, your ticket for the show and a drink and popcorn at the show. WOODBINE—The Cape May County Library is hosting Game Night from 4 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17 at the Woodbine Library. The library is located at 801 Webster Avenue in Woodbine. All the latest Xbox 360, Wii and Playstation 3 games are available. It is the library’s goal to make Game Night enjoyable. Game Night is for persons ages 13 to 26 to participate in a social event while playing some of the best games on the best consoles. TOWNSENDS INLET—Santa will talk to each child and give a free toy teddy bear to the first 50 children who attend this Townsends Inlet Civic Center tradition, the annual “Holiday Show.” This classic tale takes boys and girls of all ages on an adventure of a lifetime. This show is performed by professional Tuckers Tales Puppet Theater for one night only on the newly restored Jonathan Townsends Stage, Dec. 18 at the Townsends Inlet Civic Center, 138 85th Street at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $10 for adults, $5 for children and will be sold at the door on a first come, first serve basis. The Townsends Inlet Civic Center is looking for donations of artificial Christmas trees because they are taking part in the Holiday House Tour and need the trees in order to decorate the Center. Theatre Company presents A Christmas Wonderland

New Year events in Sea Isle City planned
SEA ISLE CITY—On Thursday, Dec. 31, the Sea Isle City Recreation Department, in cooperation with the Municipal Alliance Committee, will hold the annual New Year’s Eve in Italy event at the Sea Isle City Public School, 46th Street and Park Road. The event will run from 5 to 8 p.m. and offer food, beverages, music, dancing and much more, including a countdown to the New Year. The event is open to Sea Isle City residents and non-resident taxpayers. Pre-registration is required and children must be accompanied by an adult.
