Police Blotter news is supplied by the Egg Harbor Township Police Department and other law enforcement agencies. All persons named are presumed innocent until proven guilty.

James A. Garbutt, 67, of Egg Harbor Township was arrested Nov. 20 by Ptl. James Donaldson and charged with simple assault.

John T. Lunsford Jr., 30, of Woodbine was arrested Nov. 21 by Ptl. James Ludwig and charged with shoplifting.

David S. Smith, 49, of Egg Harbor Township was arrested Nov. 21 by Ptl. Jody London and charged with simple assault.

Matthew G. Hewlett, 18, of Egg Harbor Township was arrested Nov. 22 by Ptl. James Naylor and charged with simple assault.

Jennifer L. Garcia, 28, of Egg Harbor Township was arrested Nov. 22 by Ptl. James Ludwig and charged with possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct.

Jonathan A. Dean, 26, of Philadelphia, Pa. was arrested Nov. 23 by Ptl. Shawn Owen and charged with driving while intoxicated.

Juvenile Report

A 14-year-old male from Egg Harbor Township was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon on Oct. 13. He was found in possession of a handgun and shotgun in Egg Harbor Township. Superior Court Judge James L. Jackson adjudicated the juvenile delinquent in Family Court, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel said. He was placed on 18 months probation and the Home Electronic Detention System. He was ordered to submit to DNA typing, pay a $15 Law Enforcement Officers’ Protection Act fine, and a $60 VCCO penalty.

A 17-year-old male from Egg Harbor Township was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer on Sept. 29. He assaulted a police officer who was performing his official duties in Egg Harbor Township. Superior Court Judge James L. Jackson adjudicated the juvenile delinquent in Family Court, Atlantic County Prosecutor Ted Housel said. He was placed on probation for one year and ordered to attend the Minister’s Home Detention Project, perform 30 hours of community service, attend school, pay restitution, submit to DNA typing, pay a $15 Law Enforcement Officers’ Protection Act fine, and a $60 VCCO penalty.
