ECCLES , FRANK L. , - 87, of Atlantic City, passed away Friday, October 14, 2016. Frank was born in Atlantic City on November 2, 1928 and was a life-long resident. He attended Our Lady Star of the Sea Grammar School and Holy Spirit High School, Class of 1947. Following graduation Frank enlisted in the US Navy and served until 1951 when he was discharged to enlist in the US Army. He then served in the US Army as a Corporal in an Armor Unit during the Korean Conflict, until 1953. Frank had a love of jazz music and was a big fan of Benny Goodman and Artie Shaw. He also loved old movies, TV shows and radio. His favorite movie was "Casablanca" with Humphrey Bogart. And he loved Atlantic City: walking on the boardwalk and riding the waves on the beach. Until his retirement, Frank owned and operated with his brother, John M. Eccles, Sr., Murphy Vending Company on Iowa Avenue, which was well known in Atlantic City businesses before Casinos. Frank is predeceased by his loving wife of 27 years, Joeann Kunik Eccles formerly of Atlantic City, his parents Lucy and Thomas Eccles, Sr. formerly of Chelsea Heights, his brothers; John M. Eccles, Sr. and Thomas Eccles, Jr. both formerly of Chelsea Heights along with many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law. Frank is survived by his only child, Lucy Eccles Weber (Joseph) of Summerville, South Carolina; 3 grandchildren, Derric Bartholomew (Joy) of Richmond, VA, Frank Bartholomew of Woodbury Heights, and Joanne Bartholomew of Woodbury Heights; 5 great-grandchildren, Jessica, Frankie, Aurora, Ethan, and Joey; and numerous nieces and nephews. A special loving thank you to Michael and Joseph Kaplan. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated for Frank L. Eccles 10:00am Friday, October 21, 2016, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church, 2651 Atlantic Avenue, Atlantic City. Relatives and friends may call at the church from 9:00am. The Rite of Committal will be offered at Laurel Memorial Park Cemetery, Tilton Road in Egg Harbor Township, following Mass.
