She lived in Atlantic City with her parents and seven brothers and sisters until she was eight years of age when her family moved to Center City Philadelphia, PA. Her Philadelphia parish was The Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. She graduated from John Hallahan High School in Philadelphia and worked as a Bell Tel operator, then at Trans World Airlines (TWA) where she met a dashing WWII 99th Infantry Battle of the Bulge Vet and TWA boss named Michael P. Kurmlavage (decease 1982) and they were wed in 1954. Maryann and Mike founded a successful (17 years in business) summer restaurant in 1969 in Stone Harbor, NJ called The Backyard and Mike's Bikes. Several years after Mike's death in 1982, Maryann sold the Stone Harbor restaurant and enjoyed knowing that it was recently resold to the Union League as a private club. Maryann was also a well-known real estate owner in Philadelphia and Stone Harbor. She self-managed her properties until her death and didn't mind the work because, "It kept me young." Maryann is survived by her three children: Mark J. Kurmlavage (Jennifer), Michael M. Kurmlavage (Maria) and John L. Kurmlavage, four grandchildren Vera Francis (Tony), Michael Philip II, Barbara Rose, and Christopher Francis. Maryann is preceded in death by 7 siblings: Kay, Claire, Marge, Huey, Dick, Dave, and Matilda. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be given to Little Flower Manor, Darby PA. The family of Maryann wishes to thank all of mom's caregivers and long-time loyal friends, Marie, Irene, Patsy, Harriett, Dr. Barry and of course Betty and Joe.
