Recruitment for Mainland Unit 81
Mainland Unit 81 American Legion Auxiliary Unit 81 meets at 5:30 p.m. the second Thursday of the month at 902 S. Main St. in Pleasantville. They are looking for women of veteran servicemen/service of the wars. The auxiliary participates in many activities that support veterans and their families, community service projects, education enriched activities, New Jersey Girl State and other local events. They need new members and asking former members to be a part of the growth of our community. The auxiliary exists “for God and Country.”
Mainland Post 81 flood drive
Mainland Post 81 American Legion and Auxiliary will participate in an on-going flood relief drive, collecting items that will be donated to different areas in need of relief. The post is looking for school supplies, toiletries for men and women such as soap, toothpaste, deodorant, tooth brushes, etc., pet food, baby items, water, sanitizing wipe, and sandals. Donate new items. Donations can be dropped off at Mainland Post 81 American Legion, 902 S. Main St., Pleasantville. The casino industry layoffs and their residual effects have prompted Pleasantville officials to ask residents to donate canned food items to assist other community members through these difficult times. Donations can be dropped off at Pleasantville City Hall, 17 N. First St.; Pleasantville City Hall Annex Building, 132 W. Washington Ave.; Pleasantville Fire Department, 1 N. First St.; Pleasantville Library, 16 N. First St.; Pleasantville Police Department, 17 N. First St.; Pleasantville Public Works, 801 N. New Road; and the Pleasantville Recreation Center, 400 W. The Step Up program’s parent support group, Parents Helping Parents, meets 7:15-8:15 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday of each month at the Salem Methodist Church, Park Avenue and South Main Street.
