PLEASANTVILLE – A police officer resuscitated a newborn at a Main Street residence recently, Capt. Matt Hartman said Monday, Oct. 17.

Officer Marlon Hernandez responded to 49 S. Main St. at 4 a.m. Oct. 5 in reference to a 22-day-old baby who was unconscious and unresponsive in his room.

Officer Hernandez performed CPR for several minutes until the infant began to breathe on his own. TriCare and AtlantiCare medical personnel took over the care of the baby and transported him to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center City Campus for treatment.

The mother is younger than 18, Hartman said.

“Officer Hernandez is to be commended for his calm and professionalism in the face of a harrowing situation and is a perfect example of the outstanding officers of the Pleasantville Police Department,” Hartman said.
