More than 7,000 bicyclists are expected to participate in this weekend's Bike MS: City to Shore event set for Saturday-Sunday, Sept. 24-25.

The two-day event, with route options ranging from 25 to 180 miles, will take riders on a route that traverses much of Atlantic County, concluding in Ocean City.

Cyclists will be using 1.2 miles of the Atlantic County bikeway between Babcock Road and Harbor Avenue in Mays Landing during the ride. The bikeway will remain open to the public, but alternate routes are advisable, according to the county, between 9:30 a.m. 4 p.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m. noon on Sunday.

Other locations affected by the event include Egg Harbor City, Egg Harbor Township, Galloway, Hamilton, Hammonton, Mullica, Somers Point and Ocean City. Motorists are also advised to exercise caution on roadways being used by cyclists.

For detailed views of which roads will be used, see the neighborhood maps available at www.nationalMSsociety.org/CTSroute.

The times that cyclists are expected to pass through local streets are listed.

“You should expect congestion as the event travels through your neighborhood,” according to Bike MS. “Please allow extra travel time and use caution if you're sharing the road with cyclists.”
