ATLANTIC CITY – The 200 Club will present the 28th annual Cape-Atlantic Memorial Service and Brunch honoring police, fire and rescue personnel who died in the line of duty Sunday, June 9 at St. Nicholas of Tolentine Church and at the Borgata Hotel Casino in Atlantic City.

The keynote speaker is Bob Delaney, a New Jersey state trooper, NBA referee and motivational speaker. He is the author of “Covert: My Years Infiltrating the Mob,” and “Surviving the Shadows: A Journey of Hope into Post Traumatic Stress.”

The 2013 spring lecture series at the Cape May County Museum will be all about the music.  

Beginning with the Victorians through the rock ‘n’ roll era, learn the history of American music.  All lectures are at 7 p.m. at the Cape May County Museum and are free and open to the public.  The Cape May County Museum is located at 504 Route 9 North, Cape May Court House. 

Peter Nero and the Philadelphia Pops will return for a second concert at Cape May Convention Hall 8 p.m. Saturday, May 25, in Cape May.

“There’s no place like the South Jersey Shore for Memorial Day weekend and no orchestra like ours to celebrate this patriotic holiday at Cape May Convention Hall,” said Peter Nero. “We are honored the city of Cape May asked us to be a part of this special second annual celebration.”

The evening will consist of Italian music and poetry celebrating 2013 – Anno della Cultura Italiana (the Year of Italian Culture), and will feature Elena Buttiero and Ferdinando Molteni.

The first pig roast to benefit the Friends of the Cape May Lighthouse is planned from 3 to 7 p.m. Saturday, April 20 at the Moose Lodge, 569 Seashore Road, in Erma.

Admission is $20 and includes an all-you-can-eat pig roast and potato salad, macaroni salad, coleslaw and baked beans. Beer is included in the price of admission. Beef hot dogs will also be available.

The Legal Secretaries of Cape May County will host a Cinco De Mayo-themed party 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 23 at Avalon Links Restaurant, 1510 Route 9 in Cape May Court House.

The cost is $25 and includes hors d’oeuvres and beverages. There will be a cash bar.

CAPE MAY – The Nature Center of Cape May is offering a series of five “Gardening for Wildlife” workshops in March.

The series is led by Pat Sutton, with 30 years of wildlife gardening expertise, and will help participants design and create gardens that attract and support all species of local plant and wild life.
