CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE - Volunteers In Medicine of Cape May County is celebrating its 10th anniversary at a celebration brunch at noon Sunday, March 11, at the Avalon Golf Club, 1510 Route 9 North, Cape May Court House.

Since 2002, VIM has provided medical care to uninsured residents of Cape May County who would otherwise have no access to health care.

The community partnerships of churches, area businesses, civic organizations, foundations, the County of Cape May, many municipalities and individuals has been crucial to the survival of VIM and its mission. The clinic is operated by a small number of part-time staff and more than 100 volunteers who include physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, RN’s, LPN’s and administrative and support volunteers.

The clinic doors are open five days a week and since opening VIM has cared for over 3,600 patients in need with over 20,000 patient visits.  The Eye Clinic where patients receive eye exams and glasses was founded by the Stone Harbor Lions and eye care continues thanks to the Stone Harbor, Avalon and Wildwood Lions Clubs.

In addition to primary care, VIM continues to add new specialties to care for the patient population and new specialty clinics include: orthopedic, gastroenterology, pediatric, chiropractic, podiatry, acupuncture and massage therapy.

The 10th Anniversary Celebration Brunch will feature a full brunch buffet including carving stations. Tickets are $50 per person. Reservations can be made at www.vimcmc.org or 463-2846.  Donations in honor of VIM’s 10th anniversary can be sent to Volunteers In Medicine, 423 Route 9 North, Cape May Court House, 08210.
