The Shirelles singer to headline Sweethearts Concert

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE —Shirley Alston Reeves, former lead singer of the Shirelles, will headline of the second annual Sweethearts Concert at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12. Tickets are on sale now through the day of the show.

Raised in Passaic, Reeves started The Shirelles and sang lead vocals for the group. Their very first single release was "I Met Him on A Sunday,” and shortly thereafter the group placed six singles in the Top Ten -- songs including hits as “Sha La La” “Baby, It's You” and “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow,” which was featured in the movie “Dirty Dancing.”

Concert goers can expect other hits like “This Is Dedicated To The One I Love,” and the group's 5 million selling hit “Soldier Boy” to be played at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center.

“We’re extremely excited to have our Sweetheart Concert again with such a great turnout in 2011 with the Platters,” says Middle Township Performing Arts Center director Kay Aspell.
