ATLANTIC CITY – Comedian Mike Birbiglia will bring his unique brand of humor back to Atlantic City at the Music Box Theater at the Borgata Friday night for one show only at 8 p.m.

Rather than snappy one-liners, Birbiglia reels his audience in with personal stories that tell a lot about him while he is cracking up them up. He pulls material from personal experiences and shares it with the audience in a manner that not only makes them laugh but engages them as well.

A veteran of 40 TV appearances with hosts such as David Letterman, Jimmy Fallon, Conan O’Brien, Jimmy Kimmel, Carson Daly and Craig Ferguson, he spent the early part of his career crisscrossing the country on the college campus comedy tour. While he still does the occasional campus show, Birbiglia’s humor is now heard in theaters and performing arts centers.

His one-man shows, which straddle stand-up comedy and theater, have included “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend” in 2011, and “Sleepwalk with Me” from 2008, an off-Broadway show based on his book, “Sleepwalk with Me and Other Painfully Personal Tales.”

His most recent project is a film of the same name, “Sleepwalk with Me,” which won an award at the Sundance Film Festival in the spring. The movie opens nationwide Aug. 24.

The 34-year-old Georgetown graduate was voted the funniest man on campus and used to work the door at the Improv Comedy Theater in Washington, D.C.

Birbiglia will be bringing his self-effacing and side-splitting material to the Borgata show Friday, Aug. 10. Tickets are $30 and $35 and are available through the Borgata Music Box.
