CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE -- Ron Baker joins the Jersey Shore Pops for “Best of Broadway” on Sept. 1 at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center. The show will feature Baker singing hits from Broadway musicals such as Phantom of the Opera, South Pacific, Funny Girl, Les Miserables and Chorus Line.

The New York-based baritone performed more than 60 leading roles all over the world, both on Broadway and opera stages.  In one performance at Carnegie Hall, he performed with Bernadette Peters, Glenn Close, Madeline Khan, Liza Minelli and others. He also performed opera standards like Marcello in La Boheme at Lincoln Center. Now a life coach, author and bioenergetics therapist, he still performs.

Baker is now looking forward to singing with the Jersey Shore Pops.

“I loved my career performing.  I was very fortunate to have had the opportunity to do so many roles in such a short time.  And even though my friends thought I was crazy to let it all go, I needed to branch out and explore some of my other talents,” Baker said.

He said he is happy to again sing with an orchestra, joined by his niece, Lawson Young.

“She made her Broadway debut when she was only 13,” he said. “Lawson is now an outstanding music student at the Cincinnati Conservatory. With all of those things combined with the awesome musicians involved in the Jersey Shore Pops, it is sure to be an amazing time for everyone.”

For tickets, call (800) 838-3006 or 463-1924. Tickets may also be ordered at www.JerseyShorePops.org. The PAC is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. for ticket purchases and is located at the Middle Township High School, Exit 10 on the Garden State Parkway.
