Step Up for the Arc Saturday in Ventnor

VENTNOR – The Ventnor boardwalk will be the site of the Arc of Atlantic County’s Step Up for the Arc fundraising walk Saturday, Oct. 27.

The annual event draws hundreds of walkers who come out to help raise money to improve the lives of people with developmental disabilities and their families.

Major sponsors include Cape Bank Charitable Foundation, Atlantic City Electric, Helping Hand Behavioral Health of Galloway, Jennifer Gatto of Balsley Losco Realty, the Chadler Group, Bunting Family Pharmacy and I Rice and Company. Walkers who raise $50 or more will receive a long-sleeve T-shirt featuring the sponsors’ names.

Check-in begins 8:30 a.m. at St. James Parish, 6415 Atlantic Ave. in Ventnor, and the walk kicks off at 9:30 a.m. with the help of fitness trainers from Tilton Fitness and LiteRock 96.9WFPG.

The walk is the length of the Ventnor boardwalk and back, about 3.4 miles, but participants can walk as much or as little as they like. A post-walk party at 11 a.m. will feature complimentary lunch, music, dancing and activities with the Rainforest Café’s Cha!Cha! the Red-Eyed Tree Frog. Free parking is available on Atlantic Avenue.

The Arc of Atlantic County is a private nonprofit organization that seeks to improve the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities through direct services, advocacy, education and prevention activities. See www.arcatlantic.org/events/StepUpforTheArc.asp.
