AVALON -- The Cape May County Zoo Society’s annual fundraiser is set to celebrate the Year of the Snake with a Chinese Lunar New Year party starting at 6 pm Saturday, Jan. 26 at the Princeton Bar and Grill, 2008 Dune Drive.
The event will raise funds for the Cape May Zoo, the non-profit’s 2013 fundraising campaign to support an expanded, modern habitat for the zoo’s snow leopards, along with other initiatives, including the animal health and nutrition fund, providing food, veterinary care and behavioral enrichment activities for the overall well-being and quality of life, as well as eastern tiger salamander conservation. These endangered salamanders are disappearing, according to the event organizers. To boost their population the zoo and state DEP will work together to collect, raise and repopulate them back to the wild.
This year’s celebration will include some new Asian appetizers, entertainment for the evening along with dancing, raffles and gift baskets, and cash bar. The cost is $40 per person at the door (advance purchase online $30). For more information see www.capemaycountyzoo.org or call 609-465-1033.
