AVALON -- The fourth annual Valentine’s Day luncheon and game gala is set from noon to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13 at The Golden Inn, 79th Street in Avalon, the winter gathering for the Avalon Civic Club.

Doors open at 11:30 a.m. for a day featuring games of pinochle, rummy, mahjong, and bridge. Guests are asked to bring along their cards and games: raffles and door prizes add to the excitement. Tickets are $20.

The celebration of Valentine’s Day is a time honored tradition for Avalon Civic Club members, according to organizers. Proceeds will be donated to county food pantries.

The Club founded and continues to support the Avalon Beach Chair Program and was the first to beautify the islands and the 21st Street Circle, and initially proposed Memorial Day services as well as a recycling campaign back in 1971.

Avalon Civic Club welcomes new members, who need not be residents of the borough. Annual dues are $15 and meetings are held at Avalon Community Hall, 12:30 p.m. on fourth Monday of the month from April through October. For information on Avalon Civic Club call Rose Marie at 967-3853.
