Bail Bond office opens in Middle Township

 MIDDLE TOWNSHIP — Even after posting bail, there’s still an eye on the accused.

A bail bonds business has set up shop in Cape May Court House, down the street from the courthouse and a few miles from the county jail.

 CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — The Middle Township Chamber of Commerce welcomed a new business that opened this summer, J&J Pawn and Consignment Shop, at 1027 Route 9 South.

According to the owner, Jennifer Cornell, customers may need short term cash, and the shop offers “exceptional values on quality pre-owned merchandise.”

Intensive care nurse receives award

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Melissa Torres, a nurse in the intensive care unit at Cape Regional Medical Center, is the Service Excellence of the Month award recipient for July.

Torres was nominated for the Service Excellence Award by colleagues in the respiratory care department. The nomination stated, “Melissa provides professional and compassionate care to all of her patients. She is an exemplary employee who is always willing to go out of her way to help a patient or co-worker. Melissa always has a smile on her face and can make her co-workers and patients laugh in any situation. She is a joy to work with; she cares for her patients with an added sweetness. Melissa consistently goes above and beyond and is a pleasure to work with.”

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE — A new fresh fish market recently opened at 206 Mechanic St. Matthews Seafood Market's owner, Tom Matthews, 31, of the Green Creek section of Middle Township, has been a commercial fisherman and a scalloper for more than 10 years.
