Sunday Night at the Movies at The Branches

RIO GRANDE — The Branches, an outreach ministry of the Episcopal Partners in Ministry in Cape May County, is hosting a movie night 7 p.m. Sept. 21.

“Something the Lord Made,” a film based on a true story about a white surgeon and his black assistant, who teamed up in the 1940s to develop procedures to save children suffering from heart defects will be shown. The film is not rated. Admittance is free of charge and open to the public.

15th annual Bishop McHugh golf tournament planned at Sand Barrens

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE - Bishop McHugh Regional Catholic School’s 15th annual golf tournament kicks off at 11 a.m. with registration and lunch Friday, Sept. 26 at the Sand Barrens Golf Club, 1765 Route 9, Swainton.

The tournament is the major fundraiser for the preK-8 school, according to a statement from Principal Thomas J. McGuire.

Historical society to celebrate founding of museum

AVALON - The public is invited to a celebration of the founding of the Avalon Museum and Historical Society from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 4 at the history center at 215 39th St.

Enjoy the history of Avalon and see new exhibits and recent acquisitions. The society also seeks photos and artifacts from the borough’s early days for its collection.

Fall Open Horse Show planned Sept. 21

Riders are invited to the 4-H’s Fall Open Horse Show at 8 a.m., Sunday, Sept. 21. Horse show divisions planned include lead line and classes for riders 3rd grade and under.

Ribbons will be given in all classes with prizes for first place and division winners. All riders are required to wear a safety helmet and provide their own horses.
