Plenty to do at Avalon library

AVALON – Several activities are planned at the Avalon Free Public Library next week.

The Knitting Club will meet Monday, Feb. 18, from 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the library. All knitters are welcome.

Also Monday, the library will hold a PC Users Group meeting from 6:15-7:45 p.m. Topic is Microsoft Word. No registration is required.

On Tuesday, Feb, 19, “Argo” will be shown beginning at 6 p.m. The movie stars Ben Affleck, Bryan Cranston and Alan Arkin and the film is rated Restricted for language and some violent images.

An eReader/Kindle workshop is planned for Tuesday, from 6:15-7:45 p.m. People are encouraged to bring their Kindle or other eReader and ask questions. No registration is required, and the program is free and open to the public.

On Wednesday, Feb. 20, the library will hold an online personal computer class, from 6:30-7:45 p.m. Topic will be using OverDrive for borrowing eBooks.

That same day, an Apple computer beginner’s class will run from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Registration is required by calling 967-7155 or stopping by the circulation desk.

From 5:30-7:30 p.m., the library will hold an Apple computer class, covering iWork- Pages, Numbers and Keynote.

The library will present Story Time at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21 in the children’s library. The event will include stories, songs and crafts.

A creative writing class is also planned Thursday, from 5:45-7:45 p.m. Participants will receive instructor tips and feedback on poetry, memoirs, short stories, articles and books.

Also Thursday, the library will hold a personal computer class, from 6-8 p.m. Topic is using applications for windows.
