Updated: Fatal accident in Rio Grande

A 42-year-old Rio Grande woman was killed when struck by a vehicle Wednesday, Feb. 1, in the Rio Grande section of Middle Township.

Township police say Nancy Camp died after being hit by a Chevrolet Blazer driven by Rocco Cocchiola, 77, of Goshen, along Route 47 near ShopRite. Police responded to the accident at about 6 p.m.

The crash is still under investigation, according to police. No charges have been filed, and the preliminary investigation indicates that charges will not be filed in this case, police say.

The victim was pronounced at the scene, according to the police. Rio Grande Rescue Squad along with Medic 9 tended to the victim.

Police say the Chevrolet Blazer had been traveling south along Route 47.

Patrolman Tracy Super and members of the Middle Township Crash Team are investigating the crash.

The Cape May County Prosecutor's Office and the Rio Grande Fire Co. assisted in the investigation.
