Two hurt in three-car collision

MIDDLE TOWNSHIP – Two drivers were injured in a three-vehicle crash late Friday morning along Route 9 in the Edgewood section of Middle Township, police say. At least one victim was temporarily trapped in the wreck.
The accident involved a Jeep Liberty driven by Judith Griffis, 67, of North Cape May; a Blue Diamond trash truck operated by Luis Jimenez, 35 of Whitesboro; and a pickup truck driven by William Harris, 69, of Burleigh.
Police say the crash also involved entrapment. But a press release did not indicate how many drivers that included.

Police learned of the crash just after 11:30 a.m. Feb. 3.
Griffis and Harris were transported to the hospital with injuries from the crash, police say.
Griffis was flown to Atlantic City Medical Center where her condition is currently unknown, and Harris was taken to Cape Regional Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries, according to police.
Preliminary investigation shows that Griffis’ vehicle may have entered into the oncoming lane of traffic, striking the trash truck then coming into contact with the pickup, head on, according to police.
Police believe Griffis may have suffered from a medical condition prior to the crash.
The incident is being investigated by Patrolman Gino Castellano with the assistance of Det. Clint Stocker.
