Gloucester County man charged in fatal crash

A Gloucester County man faces DUI and other charges following a head-on crash that killed a Villas man Nov. 7 in Goshen.

Police say Robert Demarco of Williamstown has been charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane. The deceased driver has been identified as Robert Pitts Jr., 65 of Villas in Lower Township.

The head-on crash happened along Route 47 in Goshen around 5 p.m. Nov. 7, according to police. Police say a Dodge Charger operated by Demarco was travelling north on Route 47, left the north bound lane and struck a Ford Taurus, which was travelling south.

Police say Pitts was pronounced dead at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center of Atlantic City.
