CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Police say a Villas woman was driving under the influence when she crashed her vehicle Thursday afternoon.

Susan J. Colvin, 46, was driving west in the 400 block area of Dias Creek Road when vehicle left the road, striking several mailboxes and trash cans, according to police.

A township public works employee was collecting leaves on the side of the road and leaped out of the way, police say. The employee was not struck by the car, but was injured when he jumped, according to police.

Colvin was arrested at the scene and was charged with reckless driving and driving while intoxicated. She was released from custody on a summons.
