Man hit by car while crossing 47

MIDDLE TOWNSHIP – A 53-year-old Rio Grande man was hit by a vehicle in Rio Grande Friday morning, Jan. 4.

Police say Jeremiah Sullivan was attempting to cross Route 47 in the area of the Country Motel when he was struck by a white 2007 Lexus driven by Raymond Norteman Jr., 74, of Wildwood Crest.

Sullivan was not crossing at a marked crosswalk when the accident occurred, police say.

Middle Township Rescue took Sullivan to Cape Regional Medical Center for a head injury, and his condition is currently unknown, police say.

Police responded to the incident at about 9:41 a.m. Friday.

No charges have been filed, and the investigation is pending.

Patrolman John Norton and Det. Clint Stocker investigated the incident.
