Middle gets $200,000 grant

MIDDLE TOWNSHIP – Middle Township has received a $200,000 grant to help income qualified homeowners improve their homes.

The program that provides interest-free deferred loan assistance up to $25,000 to help with home repairs, including windows, roofs, floors, heating systems, insulation, woodwork, plumbing and related work needed to remedy serious code deficiencies. Rehabilitation assistance is only paid back when the homeowner sells the home or refinances.

“I am very pleased that we can offer programs such as the Housing Rehabilitation interest free deferred loan program to help our residents,” Mayor Dan Lockwood said in a press release. “Our housing rehab program has helped many families and it is a worthy program that helps maintain the value of our homes in Middle Township. The program currently has a waiting list of 37 families and this grant will go a long way in getting through that list.”
