AVALON – A Burlington County man faces burglary and other offenses after he broke into a home and then tried to outrun police.

On Feb. 17, an Avalon resident contacted borough police at 2:56 a.m. saying that he saw a man in his neighbor’s yard, peering into the windows with a flashlight.

Police identified the man as Michael McCool, 23, of Moorestown. Officers observed him smashing a rear sliding glass door to enter the home. McCool was apprehended after a brief foot chase.

Police say McCool also damaged several other homes nearby.

The case was investigated by Sgt. Jeffrey Christopher and Patrolman Robert Hampf.
