MIDDLE TOWNSHIP – School officials are racing to get a budget together to be approved by the county superintendent.

Middle Township School District's Business Administrator Diane Fox was working on budget numbers as of Tuesday.

Superintendent Michael J. Kopakowski didn't know when the Board of Education would hold a public hearing on the budget. He said he planned to meet with Fox by the end of the week.

The Board of Education has to adopt and file a budget with the county superintendent by March 7 and the earliest a budget would be put up for public hearing is March 21. That’s also when the school board would vote on the budget.

The 2012-13 budget totals $44 million and taxes did not increase.

Kopakowski was expected to provide more details on the budget this week to The Gazette.
