Outside showers targeted by copper thieves

STONE HARBOR – Thieves are stealing copper piping from enclosed outside showers in the 35th Street area in Stone Harbor, according to police.

Police have received several reports of copper being stolen at permanent and summer homes.

The copper is often sold as scrap metal.

Residents are asked to remain vigilant in reporting suspicious activity and anyone entering or existing outdoor shower or crawl spaces.
