MIDDLE TOWNSHIP—Police seized 128 bags of what they suspect is heroin and arrested two local residents after carrying out a search warrant in Rio Grande Thursday, the prosecutor’s office announced.

Police say they also found a stun gun during the search, which was conducted by the Cape May County SWAT team in the 700 block of Poplar Avenue in Rio Grande.

Christopher Sprague, 32, of Rio Grande, was arrested and charged with possession of heroin and possession with the intent to distribute, both third degree crimes. He was also charged with possession of a prohibited device in the third degree.

Sprague was sent to Cape May County jail on $10,000 full cash bail.

Alyssa Larkin, 20, of Rio Grande was also arrested as a result of the search. She was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, a disorderly offense, and released on a summons complaint.

Prosecutor Robert Taylor said his office, as well as local police departments, will continue to be vigilant in targeting drug offenders in the county because of the riding number of drug overdoses, particularly as a result of heroin use. He added his office will prosecute drug dealers to the fullest extent of the law.

Taylor is urging Cape May County residents who have information about illegal drug activity to report it.
