AVALON – Three parked cars and a home in Avalon were damaged by a Berwyn, Pa., man who has been charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident, Avalon police said Monday, Aug. 4.

Thomas E. Curry, 19, left his 2009 Jaguar at the 500 block of 24th Street with damage to the front of the vehicle, police said.

Police had earlier received at 3:18 a.m. of a reckless driver near the 25th Street Bridge. When they responded to the call, they found Curry’s car, along with three damaged cars parked in a private driveway.

In a press release, Police Chief William McCormick said that one of the cars had been forced into home’s support pillar to a second floor deck, while another parked car struck a fence.

Police said they found Curry a short time later, and charged him with DUI, reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, and failure to report an accident.  He was later released on his own recognizance.

Police Sgt. Sean McNair and Patrolman Robert Hampf investigated the incident. The Avalon Volunteer Fire Department responded and assisted at the scene.
