Bank robbed in Rio Grande, police release video

RIO GRANDE - An unarmed man robbed a bank in Rio Grande, Saturday, Aug. 9, at about 1 p.m., Middle Township Police said, and officials have released a video of the alleged thief, asking the public's help in finding the suspect.

Police said in a release Saturday, that the suspect is male, 5'2" to 5'4", wearing blue jeans, striped tank top, and a Cincinnatti ball cap. On Saturday, he entered Bank of America on 4th Street and slipped the teller a note demanding money.

Police Capt. John Edwards said the teller gave the suspect an undisclosed amount of money.

Edwards said the suspect was unarmed, and no one was hurt.

The alleged thief fled the bank, and was last seen walking south on 4th Street. Edwards said the suspect may have gotten on a bicyble.

Police have asked that anyone with information to call the Middle Township Police Department at 609-465-8700.

The robbery is being investigated by the Middle Township Major Crime Unit, along with the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office, and the FBI.
