CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Artists are being sought for the Cape May County Culture and Heritage Commission’s 11th annual exhibit and contest April 17-May 10.

The free art competition is open to workers from local, county, state and federal governments, Cape Regional Medical Center and Cape May County schools and their immediate families. Members of the County's non-profit Culture and Heritage Round Table groups and their immediate families are also eligible.

The exhibit at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center gallery will include paintings, photography, sculptures, mixed media and crafts.

Entries must be original works that have been completed within the last three years. The deadline to register is 4 p.m. April 3.

An opening awards ceremony and reception will be held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, April 17. The first-place prize in each adult class will be $300, with $200 for second, and $100 for third place. Youth/teen prizes will be $75, $50 and $25.  A "Best of Show" of $300 will be presented. Honorable mention ribbons and certificates of participation will also be presented.

This program in Cape May County is one of 89 such exhibits in the country, and one of five in New Jersey.

The National Arts Program in Cape May County is funded by The National Arts Program Foundation of Malvern, Pa., and the New Jersey State Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment for the Arts.
