Fire truck approved; commissioners elected

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Middle Township Fire District No. 1 voters approved buying a new fire truck for $600,000 during fire district elections Saturday, Feb. 18.
A new fire truck would arrive in about two years after being designed and constructed and would replace an 18-year-old fire truck, according to officials.
According to election results released Tuesday, 216 district no. 1 voters approved buying a new fire truck; 103 did not.
Also in that fire district, Keith P. Arenberg received 262 votes, and Joseph Trombetta garnered 257 votes as fire district commissioners. John Hand received two write-in votes and John Hand Jr. garnered one write-in vote.
Philip N. Winter will serve a one-year, unexpired commissioner term after receiving 235 votes. Mike Terewik, John Hand Jr. and Debbie Black each received one write-in vote.
Voters also approved a $1.16 million budget, 225 for and 91 against.
In Middle Township Fire District No. 2, Matthew J. Mattera received 15 votes and Kirby Stiltner received 20 as commissioners.
A $536,800 budget passed by a 28-11 vote.
James M. Ernst and William J. Mulligan were chosen as commissioners for Middle Township Fire District No. 3. They received 46 and 34 votes, respectively.
Paul Fritsch and Shirley Hill each received two write-in votes.
Voters passed a $463,293 budget 38-12.
For Middle Township Fire District No. 4, Robert Cusick received 24 votes and Denis Deschatlets with 33 votes as commissioners.
Danny Jefferys and Danny Jeffrery's, as it was written on the ballot, received two write-in votes.
Voters approved a $148,940 budget, 23-12.
Robert Clayton and Levin Oakley have been elected as commissioners for Dennis Township Fire District No. 1, each receiving 21 votes.
A $355,000 budget passed by 21-2 vote.
Michael H. Gihorski Jr., a lone candidate, was expected to be elected as a commissioner for Dennis Township Fire District No. 2, as were Tami Kern and Corey Shaffer for Dennis Township Fire District No. 3.
Numbers for those two districts’ elections were not available as of Tuesday morning.
