County Transportation Infrastructure Conference set Feb. 28

CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – The eighth annual Cape May County Transportation Infrastructure Conference is planned Tuesday, Feb. 28.

Freeholder Will Morey will host the program from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. at the county administration building at 4 Moore Road. Sign in and refreshments will be at 9:30 a.m.

The topic will be “Transportation – An Engine That Fuels Economic Development.” The focus of the conference will be on the role transportation plays in the economic development of a community.

Discussion topics will include infrastructure improvements that stimulate the economy, the role of airports and industrial parks in strengthening the local economy and projects vital to Cape May County’s economic development.

Speakers will include Richard Perniciaro, dean of facilities, planning and research of Atlantic Cape Community College; state Sen. Jeff Van Drew; Richard Crum, director for project management for the state Department of Transportation; John Withers, supervising engineer of the New Jersey Turnpike Authority; Woodbine Mayor William Pikolycky of Woodbine Industrial Park; Samuel Donelson, deputy executive director of South Jersey Transportation Authority and county engineer Dale Foster.

“As freeholder, one of my goals is to encourage and foster economic growth in Cape May County – transportation infrastructure plays an important role in this arena,” Morey said. “It is important that we are all working together to better our community that is why I am meeting with representatives from all 16 municipalities and conducting conferences such as this one to stimulate the discussion.”
