CAPE MAY COURT HOUSE – Volunteers In Medicine of Cape May County is celebrating its 10th anniversary at a brunch Sunday, March 11, in Middle Township.
The event will begin at noon at the Avalon Golf Club at 1510 Route 9 North in Cape May Court House. Brunch includes a buffet and carving stations.
Since 2002, the clinic has been providing medical care to uninsured county residents.
The community partnerships of churches, area businesses, civic organizations, foundations, county government, many municipalities and people have been crucial to the survival of Volunteers In Medicine and its mission, according to a press release.
The clinic is operated by a small number of part-time staff and more than 100 volunteers who include physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, licensed practical nurses and administrative and support volunteers.
Volunteers In Medicine is open five days a week. Since opening, the clinic has cared for more than 3,600 patients in need with over 20,000 patient visits.
Stone Harbor Lions founded a clinic where patients receive eye exams and glasses, and it continues with the Stone Harbor, Avalon and Wildwood Lions Clubs.
In addition to primary care, Volunteers In Medicine continues to add specialties to care for patients, such as orthopedic, gastroenterology, pediatric, chiropractic, podiatry, acupuncture and massage therapy.
Tickets to the event are $50. Reservations can be made at www.vimcmc.org or 463-2846.
Donations in honor of the clinic’s 10th anniversary can be sent to: Volunteers In Medicine, 423 Route 9 North, Cape May Court House, 08210.
