AVALON – The American Legion Post No. 331 of Stone Harbor and Avalon presented certificates to five Avalon Elementary School students who took part in an art contest that promoted Americanism Dec. 6.
“Promoting Americanism is one of the many important objectives of the American Legion around our country,” said Post Commander Kevin Coyle. “These students produced very creative and patriotic art work that showcases their American pride and spirit.”
Eighth-grade students Shannon Boyle, Anika Buchanan, Matthew Metzler, Holly Schall, and Emily Wannen are National Honor Society members and participated in the art program. They received help from society moderator Patti Fottrell and art teacher Jackie Farina.
