MIDDLE TOWNSHIP – Signups for a boy’s lacrosse starting at the Middle Township Recreation Department will be taken until Jan. 24.

Cost is $65 for third- and fourth-graders and $85 for fifth through eighth-graders. The fee excludes equipment.

The practices and home games will be played at the Middle Township High School field. The season gets under way in March.

The idea came about when some parents mentioned boy’s lacrosse was cut in Avalon, says acting recreation department director Tammy Devitt.

Register for the lacrosse program from 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Clarence and Georgiana Davies Sports Complex at 626 Goshen Road, Cape May Court House, or the Martin Luther King Community Center at 207 West Main St., Whitesboro.

A beef and beer fundraiser to benefit the lacrosse program is scheduled from 6-9 p.m. Feb. 8 at The Bellevue Tavern, 9 South Main St. in Cape May Court House. Tickets are $20 and are available by calling Devitt at 374-4391 or 465-8743, ext. 9.
